DAVE GEBROE
Since attending Boston University film school in the early 1990s, Dave Gebroe
has written, produced, and directed almost a dozen shorts. In 1997,
his film "38 Geary" won the Bronze Seal Award at England's
IAC Film Festival. In addition, he was the Head Writer for movie
website Reel.com, and the co-founder and Marketing Director of the
1996 San Francisco Short Films Festival, which played two sold-out
shows at the Roxie Theater. "The Homeboy" marks his debut
as a feature film director/producer. It's played at ten film festivals,
and was picked up for worldwide distribution by Urban Entertainment,
co-producers of the hit comedy "Undercover Brother". "The
Homeboy" received regular rotation during June and July 2002
on In-Demand Pay-Per-View, and had a huge nationwide video/DVD release
in October 2002.
Gebroe’s newest feature, “Zombie Honeymoon”—which
he wrote, directed, and produced—has been well-received at
prestigious festivals around the world, including the Hamptons,
Slamdance, San Francisco Int’l, Sitges, Brussels, Oldenburg,
Torino, and FanTasia. It’s been picked up for a massive Valentine’s
Day ’06 DVD/video release by Showtime, who will also be playing
it on their station with great regularity in late Spring. Fabrication
Films is selling it worldwide, and have financed a theatrical release
as well, which has passed through New York, San Francisco, Washington,
DC, and Portland. The reviews have been unanimously positive, from
such publications as the New York Times, the LA Times, Variety,
Salon.com, New York Magazine, and the New York Post. Gebroe is currently
working on his new feature.
