DANA OFFENBACH
Over the past 18 years, Dana Offenbach’s journey as a filmmaker
has been a long and varied one. Her credits include feature films,
shorts, television commercials (100’s of them for Young &
Rubicam and UniWorld Group, for clients such as Pepsi, Mountain
Dew, Jello, AT&T and Colgate.), awards show segments, public
service announcements, interstitial programming, documentaries and
music videos.
In 1991, her career began with a 13 minute short for then police
commissioner Lee Brown and the NYPD. The film was so well received
it aired on cable television for five months. She then wrote, produced
and directed a PSA to raise money for the victims of Hurricane Andrew.
Ms. Offenbach’s work as a producer includes a documentary
honoring Nobel Prize winner Dr. Martin Pearl, and interstitial programming
for PBS entitled “Kids 99” which she produced with renowned
writer/director, Ayoka Chenzira. She has produced awards show segments
for over 15 live events for New York Women In Film & Television,
The American Black Film Festival, Brand Architects and the Icon
Awards.
Her segments have included over 45 career achievement award videos
for many distinguished personalities such as, Gordon Parks, Diane
Keaton, Cokie Roberts, Gena Rowlands, Ruby Dee, Candice Bergen,
Mira Nair, Debbie Allen, Judy McGrath, Barbara Walters, Ruth Carter,
Dianne Wiest, Morgan Freeman, Russell Simmons, Dr. Benjamin Hooks
and Spike Lee. (Full list available upon request) In 1997 Dana co-produced
the indie hit “Hav Plenty” which was sold at the Toronto
Film Festival to Miramax Films, and premiered at Sundance. In 1999,
she produced her second independent feature entitled “Box
Marley” for writer/director Christopher Scott Cherot.
Fueled by that success, Ms. Offenbach wrote, produced, and directed
“Love & Orgasms” which won World premiere Honors
at the 2003 Ft. Lauderdale International Film Festival, and screened
in several festivals both domestically and internationally. The
film is being distributed by Image Entertainment in 2006. In 2005
Dana returned from India where she produced Kruti Majmudar’s
1850’s period piece titled “The Memsahib.” Most
recently she produced Trudie Styler’s short film “Psych
101” for Glamour Magazine through Moxie Pictures. Dana is
currently producing Exit Visa, a true story.
Dana served a three year term on the Board of Directors of New
York Women In Film & Television, attended the Sundance Producer’s
Conference, has lectured to the Graduate Program at City College,
and appeared on panels at the National Producer’s Conference
and The Coalition of Asian Pacific Entertainers.
