Bill Keys: President, Nehst Out - Distribution Group
William Keys began his film career in production and worked his way up through
the production ranks in New York while directing various short form projects and
a cable television talk show.
He worked at Artisan Entertainment for John Hegeman, the former Head of Marketing
who lead the marketing campaign for the "Blair Witch Project." Stints at Miramax and
USA Films (now Focus Features) deepened William's experience. In 2002, he co-founded a North
American theatrical distribution company, Film Movement. William became the Head of Acquisitions
for Film Movement and highlights his time there by the acquisition and distribution of award winning
films such as "Alexandra's Project" from the Toronto Film Festival, "Manito," a Sundance winner
and "Raja" from the Cannes Film Festival and Achero Manas' "El Bola" from Spain.
William has produced and consulted in the past few years as well as been a judge for top
festivals such as the Urbanworld Film Festival '03 and the Tribeca Film Festival '05. "Somebodies,"
a film William is an executive producer and sales agent on, was recently an official selection of
the 2006 Sundance Film Festival. "Somebodies" recently became the first scripted series to be greenlit
by BET in its 28 year history.
